This position is located in the Yellowstone Gateway Museum and is responsible for working to digitize and catalog special collections and archives in order to broaden access to the Yellowstone National Park Collection. The intern will assist in a broad range of basic archival functions such as processing, preservation, organization and cataloging of photos, documents and various artifacts in the collection housed at the Yellowstone Gateway Museum.
Intern will complete the 12-week program starting June 2022 through August 2022. The intern will average 40 hours of labor per week, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. The ability to work a flexible schedule might be available. Sick days and off days are allowed per request via the Yellowstone Gateway Museum Executive Director.
Each essential function listed below makes up a portion of the job, and all other functions are included in “Other Duties as Assigned”. Duties of the position are not all inclusive and subject to change.
ESSENTIAL EXPECTATIONS
1) Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, officials and the public.
2) Participate in all aspects of collections processing from accessioning, cataloging, entry of item records in the collection management database, to proper long-term storage and curation of items.
3) Utilize PastPerfect software to create and update records.
4) Contribute to a digital project by scanning photos/documents and adding them to an online archive.
5) Review and correct oral history transcripts for accuracy.
6) Create digital captures using scanning equipment.
7) Support meta data efforts and contribution to special collections
8) Conduct research using archives and collections in order to assist with research requests.
9) Work independently and complete assigned job duties on schedule.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by the Gateway Museum Executive Director. This includes participating in special projects, filling in for other employees, participating in ongoing trainings and attending approved seminars and workshops.

Education and Experience: The internship is for students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate students in Museum Studies, Library Sciences, or History field. Basic knowledge PastPerfect software is a plus.
