1.    POSITION IDENTIFICATION

Title: Short Term and Seasonal Fairgrounds & Parks Crew Staff – Office & Events Support

Position Description:  Join the crew that caretakes and help support rodeos, equestrian and livestock shows, trade shows, and more! As part of the team, you’ll perform a variety of hands-on tasks related to the daily operations, events and upkeep of Park County Fairgrounds and Parks. This is your chance to see what goes on behind the scenes while helping create memorable events for the community.

Pay Grade:

  • Grade 5 ($15.85 – $17.50): For individuals newer to the workforce or with limited experience performing job duties.
  • Grade 6 ($17.50 – $22.25): Employees at the higher end of this range will have experience with computer systems, technology and customer service.

Work Schedule: Hours vary by position, start date, and assigned duties. Most roles start at 10–30 hours/week before June 1, with the option to increase to 35–40 hours/week during peak season.

On-demand and event-based shifts are also available.

2.    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS

A. Office Support Flex Staff (Flexible Full Time or Part-Time)

  • Support the Director with various projects and daily functions.
  • Assist customers in person and over the phone with questions relating to horse stalling, camping, upcoming events, etc.
  • Operate a computer, tablet, data entry, sending emails, word processing.
  • File and process paperwork and mail for event rentals, volunteer waivers, etc.
  • Take inventory & assist with ordering janitorial supplies & other office supplies.
  • Take photos during events, prepare social media posts & newsletter blurbs.
  • Compose, type and edit a variety of event signage, reports, and other informational materials.
  • Support grounds keeping staff as needed to prepare facilities for events, including setup of tables & chairs and some janitorial duties to maintain office and event spaces.
  • Work Schedule: Some flexibility available. Work generally occurs in 8 hour shifts with some variability based on candidate availability, weather, weekends or evenings as needed.

B. On-Demand Support Staff (Flexible Part-Time)

  • Independent work: Must be able to work independently and with a team, manage time effectively, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Tasks: May include event setup and teardown, janitorial services, light maintenance or groundskeeping—based on your interests and skills.
  • Work Schedule: Choose your shifts. While flexibility is offered, we’re looking for someone who can be consistently available during event seasons. Part-time and event based. Shifts are scheduled around events, with evening or weekend needs.

General Requirements for all Candidates:

  • Prioritize safety of self and others at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, work ethic and customer service.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and complete tasks as directed by the PCFP Director.
  • Previous experience in the applied position is preferred but not required.

Other Duties as Assigned: Performs a variety of other duties assigned by Facilities & Events Coordinator or PCFP Director.

 3.    EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Driver’s license preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of workings of office procedures, be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced office environment with interruptions.  Must be detail oriented and able to prioritize.
  • The knowledge normally obtained through a High School diploma, GED or HSET.
  • Experience of at least one year in a secretarial or administrative capacity.
  • Experience that includes word processing record keeping, and receptionist duties or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and or education. 
  • Must have knowledge of computer programs, office equipment (copiers, scanners, printers, fax machines, and calculators), some electronic equipment, telephone equipment. 
  • The work requires adherence of rules, regulations, procedures and policies to ensure the proper procedures for the facility are always used. 

4.    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Requires occasional lifting and moving exertion of up to 25-pounds and occasionally 50-pounds.
  • Work requires balancing, stooping, reaching, walking, grasping, pushing, pulling, throwing, kneeling, and repetitive motions.
  • Vocal communication and hearing is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of vehicles or equipment, and observing general surroundings and activities.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
