Work Unit: Park County Fairgrounds & Parks Department (PCFP)

Title: Fairgrounds & Parks Crew Staff (multiple positions available, see below)
Pay Grade:
- Grade 5 ($15.85 – $17.50): For individuals newer to the workforce or those assisting primarily with janitorial duties, watering, and basic support tasks.
- Grade 6 ($17.50 – $21.50): For applicants with some experience in lawn equipment operation, general groundskeeping, and maintenance. Employees at the higher end of this range will have experience operating machinery such as skid steers or tractors.
Work Schedule: Hours vary by position (see below), start date, and assigned duties. Most roles start at 10–25 hours/week before June 1, with the option to increase to 35–40 hours/week during peak season. On-demand and event-based shifts are also available. II. ASSIGNED DUTIES AND TASKS
Position Overview: The Park County Fairgrounds & Parks Department (PCFP) is seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals for short term and seasonal roles. We are committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff. We have several positions available as described herein and encourage applicants to apply based on their skills, interests, and availability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Positions Available:
1. Grounds & Operations Crew Member (Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities)
- Grounds Keeping: Regularly mow grass, control weeds, and manage sprinklers and hoses for healthy lawns and gardens.
- Maintenance: Handle minor repairs such as painting, fence repairs, small fixes, and lawn equipment upkeep. Prepare for seasonal changes. Operate a skid steer or tractor for moving equipment.
- Facility & Janitorial Upkeep: Maintain cleanliness and organization of indoor and outdoor spaces, including tool sheds, horse stalls, restrooms, and event areas.
- Event Support: Assist with setup and takedown of event infrastructure, such as tents, tables, chairs, stages, trash cans, and signage.
- Off-Site Support: Occasionally travel to Gardiner and Silver Gate, Montana, to assist with grounds and facility tasks at Arch Park and Silver Gate Park.
- Work Schedule: Typical work occurs during the week in 8-hour shifts; however, schedules are somewhat flexible and can be coordinated based on staff availability. Some weekend shifts availability desired. We are also seeking an applicant who can work a consistent weekend schedule.
4. On-Demand Support Staff (Flexible Part-Time)
- Independent work: Must be able to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Tasks: May include event setup and teardown, janitorial services, or groundskeeping—based on your interests and skills. If you prefer to focus on janitorial, that’s an option.
- Work Schedule: Choose your shifts. While flexibility is offered, we’re looking for someone who can be consistently available during event seasons. Part-time and event-based. Shifts are scheduled around events, with evening or weekend needs.
5. Office Support Flex Staff (Flexible Full Time or Part-Time)
- Assist customers in person and over the phone with questions relating to horse stalling, camping, upcoming events, etc.
- Assist PCFP Director with filing paperwork for event rentals, volunteer waivers, etc.
- Take inventory & assist with ordering janitorial supplies & other office supplies.
- Take photos during events, prepare social media posts & newsletter blurbs.
- Create & post signage & informational materials for events.
- Support ground keeping staff as needed to prepare facilities for events.
- Work Schedule: Some flexibility available. Work generally occurs in 8 hour shifts with some variability based on candidate availability, weather, weekends or evenings as needed.
General Requirements for all Candidates:
- Prioritize safety of self and others at all times.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
- Ability to work as part of a team and complete tasks as directed by the PCFP Director.
- Previous experience in the applied position is preferred but not required.
Other Duties as Assigned: Complete other tasks given by Facilities & Events Coordinator or PCFP Director.

III. KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENTS
The job requires knowledge of proper methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in modern ground maintenance and janitorial duties; appropriate safety precautions; proper lifting techniques. Knowledge or willingness to learn about general maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles is preferred.
Must be able to manage effective working relationships with other County staff and members of the public.
Must be 18 years or older to operate motorized machinery.

The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms and walk on uneven ground. The employee is regularly required to stand or walk. There may be climbing of ladders or balancing required. The employee must be able to work in all weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
