I.          POSITION IDENTIFICATION

           

Work Unit:       Park County Fairgrounds & Parks Department (PCFP)

Current Classification:

 

Title: Fairgrounds & Parks Crew Assistant (multiple positons available)

Pay Grade: Grade 5 ($15.31- $22.17) to Grade 6 ($16.01- $23.22), Depending on Duties & Experience

Work Schedule: These positions permit some flexibility of scheduling, depending on the date hired and the duties of interest. Hours will likely be fewer until June (10 - 25 hours per week) and the option may exist for additional hours approaching full time during peak season, June and beyond (35 - 40 hours per week). II.            ASSIGNED DUTIES AND TASKS

 

Position Overview:  The Fairgrounds & Parks (PCFP) Department is seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals for short term and seasonal roles. We are committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff. We have several positions available as described herein and encourage applicants to apply based on their skills, interests, and availability.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Positions Available:

 

1. General Grounds Keeping, & Facilities Worker (Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities)

  • Grounds keeping: Regularly mow grass, control weeds, and manage sprinklers and hoses for healthy lawns and gardens.
  • Maintenance: Handle minor repairs such as painting, fence repairs, small fixes, and lawn equipment upkeep. Prepare for seasonal changes. Operate a skid steer or tractor for moving equipment.
  • Facility & Janitorial Upkeep: Keep both indoor and outdoor areas clean, including horse stalls and event spaces, ensuring they're ready for guests and activities.
  • Event Support: Set up and take down tents, tables, chairs, stages, and trashcans for events.
  • Work Schedule: Be ready to take on various tasks. Work generally occurs Monday – Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm, with some variability, weekends or evenings as needed.

2. Floral Waterer (Morning Part-Time, Weekend Work Required)

  • Responsible for daily watering of flowers and grass, requiring approximately 1 hour daily.
  • Work Schedule: Ideal for individuals seeking a short, consistent daily work commitment.

3. Janitorial Services Worker (Flexible Part-Time)

  • Focus on maintaining the cleanliness of facilities and buildings.
  • Tasks include sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, stocking supplies, restroom upkeep and associated janitorial duties.
  • Work Schedule: Flexible hours, suited for individuals seeking to set their own schedule with part-time work.

4. On-Demand Event Support Staff (Multiple Positions)

  • On-call positions to support various events held at PCFP facilities. Choose your shifts.
  • Duties include event setup and teardown of our show tent, janitorial services during events, and grounds keeping tasks as needed.
  • Ideal for individuals looking for occasional work based on event schedules and duties.

5. Office Support Staff (Flexible Full Time or Part-Time)

  • Assist customers in person and over the phone with questions relating to horse stalling, camping, upcoming events, etc.
  • Assist director with filing paperwork for event rentals, volunteer waivers, etc.
  • Take inventory & assist with ordering janitorial supplies & other office supplies.
  • Take photos during events, prepare social media posts & newsletter blurbs.
  • Create & post signage & informational materials for events.

 

General Requirements for all Candidates:

  • Prioritize safety of self and others at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and complete tasks as directed by the PCFP Director.
  • Previous experience in the applied position is preferred but not required.

 

Other Duties as Assigned: Complete other tasks given by Facilities & Events Coordinator or PCFP Director.

III.           KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENTS

 

The job requires knowledge of proper methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in modern ground maintenance and janitorial duties; appropriate safety precautions; proper lifting techniques. Knowledge or willingness to learn about general maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles is preferred.

 

Must be able to manage effective working relationships with other County staff and members of the public.

 

Must be 18 years or older to operate motorized machinery.

IV.            ACCOUNTABILITY

 

This position works to carry out the work of the PCFP operations and services. The work requires the application of rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the proper procedures for the facility are used at all times.  An ideal candidate is dependable and responsible.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

           

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
