I.          POSITION IDENTIFICATION

           

Work Unit:       Park County Fairgrounds & Parks Department

 

Current Classification:

Pay Grade:        12-Salary Range ($11.04 to 16.56)    Title: Facilities & Maintenance Position

                       

Non Exempt:    Half time position – or – 20 hours per week

Subordinates: Contracted services

Supervisor:    PCFP Director

II.                    ASSIGNED DUTIES AND TASKS

 

Position Overview:  The position of Facilities & Maintenance person is a permanent half time position with Park County.   The position must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of our customers at the Fairgrounds and Parks.  The ability to prioritize tasks at multiple locations will be needed. The position works for the Park County Fairgrounds & Parks Director in coordination with the PCFP Facilities & Events Coordinator. 

 

                                    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Facilities & Grounds Maintenance:

 

a)     Make safety of self and others a top priority at all times.

b)    Provide service as needed in the way of maintenance and or services for functions or activities that are held on PCFP facilities and/or properties (properties include: Fairgrounds, Arch Park, Confluence Park, Green Acres Park, Silvergate Park). 

c)     Coordinate closely with the PCFP Facilities & Events Coordinator and Director to discuss, plan and carry out all facility related functions and activities.    

d)    Attend to the security of the grounds and buildings of fairgrounds, comprised of twelve buildings and the arena and implementing seasonal opening and close-down procedures.

e)    Prepare any buildings and surrounding area for functions and/or activities, including cleaning of area and buildings following the function. 

f)      Conduct post-event walk-through inspections after any and all PCFP events and activities. Report any problems to the PCFP Director and/or Facilities & Events Coordinator.

g)     Perform general and special maintenance and upkeep on PCFP facilities and equipment as required.

h)    Notify the PCFP Director immediately of any problems that arise that the Facilities & Maintenance person cannot correct on their own.

i)      Be responsible for maintenance of all facilities, grounds, tools, supplies, equipment, and other items belonging to the PCFP Department.

 

 

Equipment and Inventory Maintenance:

 

a)     Develop and maintain an equipment inventory list and maintenance schedule on a regular and ongoing basis.

b)    Keep the PCFP Workshop clean, tools and supplies organized and maintained for efficient use.

c)     Use and secure the floor scrubber and other janitorial equipment to maintain the Exhibit Building at the fairgrounds on a regular basis.

d)    Maintain tables, chairs, stage pieces and other equipment for use and storage in the Exhibit Building Addition.

e)    Organize and maintain the PCFP janitor closet and keep supplies inventoried and stocked in the Exhibit Building at the Fairgrounds.

f)      Purchase supplies when needed up to $200.00 for the upkeep and maintenance of the facilities and equipment, within budget.  The PCFP Director must first approve any purchases above $200 through the use of a Purchase Requisition.  All receipts must be turned in daily to the front office.

g)     Organize and maintain the Safety Data Sheets and book for the PCFP Department that is stored in the Exhibit Building janitor closet.

 

Coordinate Contracted Services:

 

a)     Coordinate outside services with efficiency including snow removal, lawn care, plumbing, electrical and other contractors as indicated by the PCFP Director.

 

Other Duties as assigned:

 

            To complete other tasks given by PCFP Director.

  1. III.          KNOWLEDGE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of Facilities and Equipment maintenance such as: plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, grounds keeping, snow removal, carpentry, custodial work and winterizing processes. The ability to juggle multiple tasks at once.  Excellent customer service skills for interacting with the public are needed. Effective verbal communication skills and working on a Team. Knowledge of hand tool use and repairs.  Understanding of the importance of Security for asset protection. Ability to be punctual on a daily basis.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

The required knowledge, skills and abilities regularly obtained through a High School diploma, HiSET or GED and two to four years of related work experience. Security experience is preferred. Experience operating a Cell Phone, Skid Steer Loader, Tractor Loader, OSHA requirements of SDS program is helpful.

 

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES AND LICENSES:

Valid Montana Drivers license.

IV.      ACCOUNTABILITY

This position works to carry out the work of the PCFP operations and services. The work requires the application of rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the proper procedures for the facility are used at all times.  Actions and services provided have a direct impact on the financial integrity of the County as a whole.

This position exercises a high level of independent responsibility in performing job duties and tasks. The person in this position and the PCFP Director develop work objectives jointly. The Director is available to provide guidance.

This position has contacts with other county personnel, elected officials, department heads, vendors, Park County citizens and other members of the public with regard to renting the facility and how to use in a proper manner. The person in this position interprets, clarifies or explains information in order to be responsive to questions and inquiries.
